March 26, 2015Are you ready to plant?
March 31, 2015One of the first considerations for proper hybrid selection is the predominant soil type in a field. Different soil textures (e.g., the percentage
of sand-, silt- and clay-sized particles in the soil) can dramatically affect the emergence and growth of a corn plant, as well as its ability to
recover from heat and moisture stress during different growth stages of the corn life cycle. Your local Premier Ag agronomist uses this data to help determine specific hybrid placement recommendations for your varying soil textures.
After identifying the percentages of sand, clay and silt in your soil, the soil texture triangle can help you determine the predominant soil type in your fields. For optimal performance, hybrids should include the right root systems to match the soil conditions within each field.
